This
production of Emma, although
not true to the book, is infinitely better than the 1996 production
starring Gwyneth Paltrow.
Kate Beckinsale makes a
wonderfully interfering Emma, just as she played the Emma like
character Flora Post in the recent production of Cold Comfort Farm.
Generally the production works out
well, but there are a few scenes that defied credibility, such as the
harvest supper.
Harriet Smith's portrayal is by
far the best in this production.
The filming is beautiful and the
music is good, but this production still does not match the excellent
BBC version of 1972 .
