1983 Mansfield Park

This production of Mansfield Park is as near perfect as it is possible to get.
The production and filming is exquisitely done, the music is perfectly chosen and the cast couldn't be better, with perhaps one exception. The choosing of Angela Pleasance as Lady Bertram was poor.
The dramatisation is immaculately done and faithful to Jane Austen's novel. It is perhaps regrettable that Sylvestra appeared more to be having an asthma attack than hysterics over explaining her refusal of Mr Crawford's proposal to Mr Bertram. This aside, it is an excellent production.
