1979 Pride and Prejudice

This production of Pride and Prejudice although lacking in filming technique is by far the best dramatisation.
Elizabeth Garvie and Sabina Franklin are perfectly matched as sisters, and it is perfectly understandable when Elizabeth refers to Jane as being the prettiest.
David Rintoul is regarded by many as being too stiff to be playing Mr Darcy, he was described in many reviews as having a ram rod up his back. Although he doesn't portray a person who is unaccustomed to society very well, his acting presence in my opinion is ideal for the portrayal of Mr Darcy.
The weakest point of this production was Priscilla Morgan who was playing Mrs Bennett. Her acting was weak and a bit too whining.
In comparison to the 1995 production, this is by far the best of the two.
